Halibut Cove

Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a great time with our dear friends, the Morris', this weekend. They invited us to go camping with them at Halibut Cove. We drove to Homer (about 4 1/2 hours away) and loaded up Jamin's boat. We went in the boat on the ocean to get to the Cove, which took about 35 min. Upon our arrival at the PERFECT little beach camping area (there was even an outhouse!), we commenced setting up camp. There were some SWEET tent platforms already there, but both of our 6-person families had brought the mondo "family reunion" tent, so neither fit on the platforms. We set ours up on the biggest platform, and about 1/3rd of it hung over the edge. Thankfully, the Morris' also had brought their smaller tent, so they pitched it on the smaller platform.

We had rain the first day, so we made a big tarp covering for our kitchen/campfire area. The kids had great fun getting wet and dirty. The second day (Sunday) was beautiful, although still cold. The sun was shining, so we went clamming. That was my favorite part of the trip. WHAT FUN!!!

HOME RUN!!

Josiah hit not only his first home run of the season, but also the first home run of his LIFE tonight!! Of course, I didn't have the video camera on, or actually even at the game at all, so it will have to live on in my foggy and completly crappy memory. It was a fun night at the ball game, as we played Tucker Delong's team (they beat us) and I enjoyed sitting with the Delongs (while Ryley and Jeremy were at their practices). I love the sportsmanship of these little guys. After one of Josiah's good hits, Tucker could be heard from the outfield cheering him on!

New Template

I decided to change the template on my blog from black to white in celebration of the light, bright, sunny days of spring which we have been SO excited about! Is it annoying to visit a blog and find a new template every so often? Should I stick with the same one like companies stick with a logo for "brand recognition"? I changed from my original template because several other people ended up using it too, but then the one I changed to also is used by others. Guess no matter which I choose, someone else will have it! "There is nothing new under the sun"!

It's Official!!

Today we drove into Anchorage to put a deposit down on our NEW PUPPY!! She is an AKC Chocolate Lab and we are all so excited. After much deliberation and research, we decided to go with another Lab. We will get to bring her home on June 3rd, so we'll spend the meantime researching training techniques (it's been a little while, and these things are easily forgotten for me!), getting her toys and paraphernalia ready, and choosing a name. Anyone have any good one syllable girl dog names? Maybe there will be some left over Horsman girl names to choose from!! :-)
